Hue Weekly: SpatialAware in Las Vegas

Philips Hue introduces new feature

Note: Article contains affiliate links. What’s that?

To kick off the new year, Philips Hue took advantage of the world’s largest consumer electronics trade show to showcase some new products. As in previous years, the focus was on software features. After bringing the Hue Sync TV app to LG televisions last year, there is now a new feature for the Hue Bridge Pro.

The new SpatialAware is so important to the company that it rented a suite at the Aria Hotel for the first time in six years. And with good reason, because with its numerous interchangeable ceiling lights, it offered the perfect conditions for presenting the new feature.

In small groups, Hue inventor George Yianni explained to us on site how the new SpatialAware is set up and what effects it has on existing scenes. Then we were able to try it out for ourselves – and I naturally took the opportunity to capture the whole story for you in a short video (see below).

Incidentally, this event was not entirely straightforward for Philips Hue this time. Several employees from the Netherlands didn’t make it to Las Vegas on time. Snow, ice, and wind caused several thousand flights to be canceled at Amsterdam Airport. This affected not only Philips Hue, but also employees from Homey, Nuki, and several media colleagues, for example. Some made it to Las Vegas with a long delay, while others had to cancel their trip to CES altogether.

My two videos from CES in Las Vegas

I was at CES in Las Vegas with Frederick for our Apple and technology blog appgefahren.de. We created two videos for you there, which you are welcome to watch again today. In the first video, you can see the new Hue SpatialAware and some other lighting innovations. In the second video, I introduce you to the new LEGO Smart Brick and show you some other tech highlights. Both videos are recorded in German, but you can also watch them on YouTube with English dubbing.
