Philips Hue has launched hundreds of new products in recent years. Light bulbs, ceiling lights, mood lights. Everything was available in multiple versions and in different series. Only the light strips fell by the wayside.
Apart from the Play Gradient Lightstrips, which serve a very specific purpose, there have been only three light strips for indoor use in well over ten years. The first light strip was discontinued after a short time and replaced by the Hue Lightstrip Plus, which is still available today. Then, a few years ago, the Hue Ambiance Gradient Lightstrip came onto the market, but at €159.99 for two meters, it was really very expensive. Most recently, the Hue Solo Lightstrip came onto the market, but it was just a slightly differently packaged Lightstrip Plus.
The competition, on the other hand, has been busy launching new products. For example, light strips that can be shaped into colorful designs on the wall. Particularly simple and inexpensive light strips. Or even light strips with COB technology, where individual LEDs are no longer visible. Govee in particular has made a name for itself here with numerous products at affordable prices.
The selection of light strips in the Hue world was frustrating, and it was long overdue for Philips Hue to deliver something new. And how: The new Hue OmniGlow is reasonably priced and makes the competition look outdated, as I found out for you in a direct comparison with Govee.
In addition to the OmniGlow and the Hue Flux, which has also already been tested, the ultra-bright Flux and the affordable Essential Flex and Essential Lightstrip are also coming onto the market. Here you will find a comprehensive overview of all new light strip releases. This should soon provide enough choice to implement just about any lighting project. What do you think?
