Since this week, several Bridges can be “connected” to each other in the Philips Hue app – multi-bridge support is finally here. Although lamps and accessories cannot yet communicate with each other across bridges, at least you don’t have to switch between the different bridges every time you want to control the lamps. This makes using the Hue app a whole lot more convenient.
However, with two Bridges and over 30 rooms and zones, the home screen of my Philips Hue app is now really full. I first had to tidy things up and put the rooms in a sensible order. Nevertheless, I still see room for improvement here.
In July, Philips Hue introduced a function that allows you to hide rooms and zones on the main screen and move them to a separate area. This has already enabled me to sort out some rooms that I virtually never control manually. Nevertheless, I would still like to see a little more order.
Sorting rooms and zones into groups in the Hue app
My idea is based on the hide function and could significantly improve the overview in the Hue app. I would like to be able to create as many “groups” as you like and then sort rooms and zones into them. These groups could not only be freely sorted on the start page of the Hue app, but could also be collapsed and expanded.
I tried my hand at the graphics program and virtually redesigned the Hue app. In the screenshot on the left, you can see the “Ground floor” area, which is currently expanded. In the right-hand screenshot, this area is collapsed so that it takes up less space on the start page.
You could certainly add more functions to the groups, such as a switch to turn them on and off. Perhaps you have other ideas on how to further improve the overview on the Philips Hue app home page? Just write your opinion in the comments below this article.
