Back in July, I introduced you to the Philips Hue Linear Gradient, a light strip designed for installation in the kitchen. Currently, you can’t buy it separately, but only together with a Nobilia kitchen.
I would like to reiterate at this point that I had the solution retrofitted in my home. Among other things, this meant that the Zigbee controller could not be hidden behind the kitchen cabinet in one place. I also suggested a few improvements, including a dual-sided power supply.
After using the system for a month, I can tell you that the lighting in the kitchen is much more even than before with the simple light strip. In terms of lighting, it’s definitely an improvement. Especially since I also had the problem with the kitchen cabinets not being continuous.
Now I’ve taken the opportunity to make another video of the Philips Hue Linear Gradient. Feel free to check it out on YouTube; so far, there aren’t many impressions of kitchen lighting on the internet. It was recorded in German, but you can just use the English synchronization.
The Philips Hue Linear Gradient in the video
I definitely agree with one reader comment: for a lighting solution that is currently only available when purchasing a new Nobilia kitchen, it looks very cobbled together. The light strips could definitely have been better integrated into the kitchen by the kitchen manufacturer.
For me, the Philips Hue Linear Gradient light strip is already a product that I see in the consumer market. As a solution for retrofitting in your own kitchen. Some details still need to be optimized before a potential launch on the market, and there is still room for improvement in areas such as the power supply.
At this point, it is unclear whether it will ever come to that. I could imagine that such a product would be well received in stores at a reasonable price.
Thanks for the AI English dubbing. It’s appreciated.
