I already shared the first details about Hue SpatialAware with you in a detailed article on Wednesday. After seeing the feature for myself, it quickly became clear to me that you have to see it for yourself to appreciate how smart it really is.

So my team and I quickly got to work and used the extremely stylish Philips Hue demo room at the Aria Hotel to record a short video about Hue SpatialAware for you. As always, the video is recorded in German, but you can easily activate the increasingly good English dubbing on YouTube.

Experience Philips Hue SpatialWare in a video

Among other things, I show you how the lights in the room are scanned with the iPhone camera. Philips Hue also takes orientation into account for all gradient products. Light strips glow in two different colors during setup, and you first mark one half, then the other. This way, Hue SpatialAware knows exactly whether the light strip has been placed vertically or horizontally in the room.

You can also see how the scenes in the room change when Hue SpatialAware is activated. Of course, there will be a few tweaks to the app before the feature is launched, including marking the scenes that have already been enhanced in the Hue light scene gallery. Philips Hue plans to start with about half of the existing scenes and gradually make the rest compatible with SpatialAware.

One thing is clear: what Hue SpatialAware does automatically after scanning the room is something you can already do yourself. All lights in a scene can be edited manually. However, doing this for every room and every scene would be quite a lot of work. Hue SpatialAware definitely makes it easier.

The video also shows you the new products that Aqara, Govee, and Linkind presented at CES in Las Vegas. No one set off any big fireworks, but we did discover a few nice lighting products. So feel free to check out the video.
