Hue Flux Lightstrip: New light strip now available

3 and 4 meters are here

The new Hue Flux Lightstrip was actually supposed to be released in October. At least, that was the official information provided by Philips Hue so far. However, at least two of the five announced lengths have now been released much sooner than planned—they are already available for purchase in Europe. The Hue Flux Lightstrip is now available in 3-meter lengths for €69.99 and in 4-meter lengths for €84.99. The longer light strips, specifically 5, 6, and 10 meters, are not yet available.

“The Lightstrip Flux provides a subtle band of light to illuminate interior spaces with a smooth color gradient,” promises Philips Hue. I will find out exactly how the new light strip performs for you in the next few days. In any case, I have already ordered the Hue Flux Lightstrip from the Philips Hue online store so that I can share my own impressions and details with you soon.

What you can expect from the Philips Hue Flux Lightstrip

The new Flux Lightstrip could almost be described as the new all-rounder from Philips Hue. Like all new light strips, it also masters color gradients with gradient technology. Another great feature: thanks to RGBWWIC, there are not only colorful LEDs, but also true white LEDs.

The light strip is 14.5 millimeters wide and 6 millimeters high. According to official information from Philips Hue, it can be shortened and also extended. I assume that cut-off pieces can be reconnected with the appropriate accessories. Unfortunately, I don’t yet know whether individual extensions are also available.

Accessories are a good keyword, by the way. There will be a number of connectors available for the Hue Flux Lightstrip, for example to create 90-degree corners. However, these accessories have not yet appeared in the Philips Hue online store, so a little patience is required here.

If you’re planning a simple installation, you can already get started. The 3-meter Hue Flux Lightstrip costs €69.99 and is up to 1,200 lumens bright, while the 4-meter light strip costs €84.99 and is up to 1,600 lumens bright. Here you can take a look at the other new light strips.

Over the last few years, I've become a real expert when it comes to Hue & HomeKit. I now have over 50 lamps and numerous switches in use. I'm happy to share my experiences with you in my little blog.

  1. Basically, they have no idea WTF they are doing. So much info was inadvertently leaked, items were accidentally listed for sale on the website before they were ready, so many mistakes in the app – one has to wonder who runs the show at Hue and why are they still there.

Meanwhile, Signify stock has been a dog for the past 3 years. They need to clean house and return some value to investors.

  2. I look forward to your rating on the new lightstrip. I am looking for a good lightstrip for the kitchen interior. I have IKEA MITTLED currently connected to the HUE system, but would like a slightly more stable connection and tunable white and RGB functions on the light.

  3. Hi,
I would like to light the inside of a cupboard 3,6 m in length when I open the sliding doors (4 doors).
Is there a way it could light when I open on the left, and also when I open on the right ? Can I install 1 motion detector either side ? Is this even possible ?
Or could the Bridge Pro recognize presence and light the strip ?
Thank you for your help 🙂

    1. MotionAware with the Hue Bridge Pro is not made for something like this. You could use a Motion Sensor inside the cupboard or the Hue Contact Sensor.
