Hue Secure: Schedule function is now available

Automatically arm or disarm the security system

Philips Hue Secure was launched over a year ago with several camera models and contact sensors. Since then, we have been waiting for an essential function, as the system always had to be activated or deactivated manually. This has now changed – there is now a schedule function.

This had already been announced in the past few days, as the update to version 5.33 of the Philips Hue app has already integrated the corresponding menu items into the official application. Until now, however, the schedule could not be set up.

This has now changed. You can access the new schedule function via the “Automations” section in the Philips Hue app, for example. You can create a “Arming schedule” via the familiar plus symbol. This looks like this in the Hue app:

You can add up to eight time periods per day to deactivate the system or switch on the two active modes (away and at home). You can also simply apply the set entries to other days or use different schedules for different days.

You can also create several schedules, which you can then simply switch between in the Hue app. For example, you could create a vacation schedule that you can then simply switch to if you are not at home for several days.

Schedules can only be the first step

One thing is clear: schedules are a step in the right direction, but in everyday life there are often no fixed times. In my opinion, it is therefore imperative that Philips Hue integrates further functions into Hue Secure.

A geofencing function is essential, with which the system can always be armed when the last person (with a smartphone) leaves the house. At the same time, Hue Secure could be automatically disarmed again when you come home. This is a feature that many other smart home apps have always offered – and Philips Hue should also offer this option.

  1. A Nice step. But this would make the Hue Secure platform so much better: “A geofencing function is essential, with which the system can always be armed when the last person (with a smartphone) leaves the house. At the same time, Hue Secure could be automatically disarmed again when you come home.”

Is there any known whether Signify/Hue is working on this?
