This product category has always been very popular in the USA, which is why Philips Hue launched the new Hue Festavia Permanent there a few weeks ago in two different colors. The 18-meter-long white string of lights with a total of 32 light points is now also available in Germany and other European countries.
The new outdoor lighting is now available to purchase directly from Philips Hue for €299.99. In addition to the string of lights itself, the package also includes a black 40-watt outdoor power supply, a black Zigbee controller, and a white extension cable with a length of approximately 2.5 meters. The total length of the string of lights is specified as 18.29 centimeters.
In addition to the basic set already available, 9-meter extensions for €119.99 are planned to be released in December, at least according to the original plan. However, these are not yet available in the shop. In principle, the string of lights can be extended up to 45 meters. The Hue Festavia Permanent can also be shortened after each of the small “pods,” but it cannot be extended again afterwards.
This is how bright the Hue Festavia Permanent pods shine
Each element of the string of lights can shine with a brightness of 50 lumens. That may not sound like much, but it’s the quantity that counts. Up to 80 light points are possible – and then you get a bright 4,000 lumens. With its 32 pods, the basic set shines with up to 1,600 lumens.
Similar to the other Festavia models, each LED can theoretically be controlled individually. Philips Hue makes control quite easy with the familiar gradient function, the selection points in the color wheel, and numerous scenes, effects, and modes. This allows you to conjure up chic effects on your façade in no time at all, if you so desire.

All the examples show eaves that extend horizontally from the roof. But many of us have eaves that slope downward, so the light will not point 90 degrees toward the wall. Has Hue considered this, and what will the lighting effect look like when the eaves slope downward?
