When it comes to configuring the Hue system, there has been no way around iConnectHue (App Store link) in recent years. And even if the official Philips Hue app keeps adding new features, iConnectHue remains my first choice for most settings.
Now there’s some news about the app again, as iConnectHue version 5.8 is now available to download. What I find particularly interesting is the new global light fade time.
Normally, switching operations that are carried out in iConenctHue directly via the app or via a configured switch take exactly 0.4 seconds. If this is too slow or too fast for you, you can now freely configure the fade time from 0 to 10 seconds. Please note that this new feature is only available for members and does not apply to existing (but only new) accessory configurations. In general, I really like it when the light doesn’t go on and off abruptly.
In addition, the color and speed of the official Hue effects can now also be adjusted in iConnectHue. In my opinion, however, the solution is pretty well hidden: After starting an effect, you have to change the menu again and can then make the settings once. You can also save the customized effects in the effects editor in the official Hue app.
Other new things in iConnectHue
- The user interface and dialogs have been adapted in some places for better user-friendliness
- Support for new lights added
- Bug fixes and stability improvements
Black Friday offer until Sunday
If you have not yet unlocked the premium features of iConnectHue, you can now take advantage of a Black Friday offer. You pay 40 percent less for the first year of a new membership up to and including Sunday. This is quite remarkable, because such discount promotions are extremely rare in iConnectHue.
If you haven’t tried iConnectHue yet, you can also save money: The purchase of the app is reduced from 5.99 euros to 2.99 euros. This unlocks all basic functions including the 2024 upgrades.
