The Black Friday deals at Philips Hue have started. I have already summarised all the information for you, but today we would like to look at one product in more detail: The Philips Hue Play Gradient Light Tube. It is part of the Black Friday deals in most countries, in Germany in the long, black version.
Together with another product, you can get the Play Gradient Light Tube with a discount of 30 per cent. So you only pay 153.99 euros, while the internet price comparison in Germany is 198 euros. That’s a pretty good deal. A recommended accessory is the üClick Here, which you can get for €15.39 instead of €21.99 as part of the promotion. We use exactly this combination in our children’s room.
How we use the Philips Hue Play Gradient Light Tube
We mounted the Play Gradient Light Tube horizontally above our son’s bed and attached the Smart Button directly to the bed frame where it is easily accessible. The almost 138-centimetre-long light source fulfils various tasks there. Here is a brief overview of the possibilities.
Night light: The tube can be rotated almost 360 degrees. Aligned to the wall, with a light red colour and low brightness, we use it as a night light.
Reading light: With the reading scene and adjusted brightness, the Hue Play Gradient Light Tube serves as a reading light. In this case, we point the LEDs towards the bed.
Indirect light: If the large ceiling light is switched off, the Hue Play Gradient Light Tube can shine a bright scene towards the ceiling and discreetly illuminate the room with its 1,800 lumens.
Mood light: In combination with the ceiling lighting, we also switch on the Hue Play Gradient Light Tube with the Hue wall switch module and use it as mood lighting with a colour gradient.
You can argue about the unusual design
You can certainly have different opinions about the design. I am sure that the Philips Hue Play Gradient Light Tube will not suit everyone’s taste.
However, the rotatable LED tube can not only be mounted on the wall, but also simply placed on a shelf. I could even imagine that you could mount it under the hanging cupboards in the kitchen and use it as customisable kitchen lighting.
With a recommended retail price of €219.99, the Play Gradient Light Tube is one of the more expensive Hue products. However, with a discount of 30 per cent, the story looks a little different at the moment. In any case, we are very pleased with the possibilities that this product offers us. So it’s best to take a look directly at the Black Friday deals, you’ll find the tube in the Mix & Match offers (be sure to check there which colour is reduced).
