I’ll make this short and sweet at this late hour: an update for the Philips Hue app is available to download from the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. However, version 5.40.0 does not bring any new functions or significant changes. The update description simply states: “Various bug fixes and stability improvements.”
Today I have a little tip for you from the Apple App Store, because you can currently get the Hue Party for Philips Hue app for free. To be more precise, the download itself is free anyway, but you can currently unlock the full version within the app for free. Why and why?

On an unusual Thursday for Hue, another update for the official app is available for download in the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. You can now download Philips Hue 5.39. The new features are limited this time, but for the first time in a long time there are “finally” new scenes.

I keep receiving emails about problems with the battery life of the Philips Hue Secure wireless cameras. I’m always at a bit of a loss because I haven’t used the battery-powered version of the smart home camera myself yet. However, Philips Hue now seems to have addressed the problems. This week, new firmware was released for the Hue Secure cameras.
Philips Hue introduced the new Tento series last year and all variants are now available in stores. However, sales have so far been limited to mainland Europe; the ceiling panel is not yet available in the UK or the USA. In Germany, Philips Hue is limiting sales of the Tento series to a few selected DIY stores, where prices have been very stable so far.
Yesterday, the Philips Hue app was updated to version 5.38.1. An update on a Sunday? That’s a pretty unusual thing, but Philips Hue wanted to remove the Hue Secure doorbell we discovered from the app as quickly as possible. This was achieved with the update – but a few other lines of code were probably changed at the same time.
