Developer Stefan Göhler has released another update with new features for his popular app iConnectHue. Before we get to that, I would like to briefly address some of your reactions, as I was misunderstood by some of you in the last article. I have no problem with iConnectHue costing money, even on an ongoing basis. After all, good work should be rewarded. But basic membership, pro membership, annual upgrades, and purchases for individual features are just too much for me. In my opinion, it should be simpler.

But now let’s move on to version 5.11, which is now available for download in the App Store. The highlight is definitely the dashboard, which requires a Pro membership. Swiping left on the app’s home screen takes you to a new control center that can be customized with your own widgets.

In addition to a discotainment widget, widgets can also be created for individual rooms. In these, you can not only store quick actions for scenes, but also buttons for individual lamps and groups or the status of sensors. Virtually everything you know from the widgets on the home screen can now also be used as a simple control center in the app.

Improvements to the switch editor and other new features in iConnectHue

“Our switch editor has learned something new – it now supports switching based on the ‘light on’ status. Perfect if you want to control a single lamp or just a few lamps without a group,” says Stefan Göhler, describing the second new feature, which is included for all members with the 2025 update or with a purchase in 2025.

In addition, the following entries are included in the iConnectHue changelog:

  • Support for new lamps
  • Bug fixes and stability improvements for smooth operation
  • Stay tuned: We’re already working on great new features – yes, again!

I’m also excited about that – and will continue to use iConnectHue until then. Just recently, I replaced two lamps with the wizard because it works so wonderfully easily.
