Philips Hue improves security of the Hue Bridge

Software version 1971060010 released

Almost ten years after the launch of the second-generation Hue Bridge, Philips Hue continues to work on the security of its control hub. The firmware of the Hue Bridge has now been updated once again and software version 1971060010 is now available. Among other things, this update has improved the security of the system.

“We replaced self-signed certificates with proper HTTPS certificates”, says the development team. “This change protects your personal and sensitive information even better. Now your Hue Bridge interacts even more safely with apps and with our Cloud services.”

Philips Hue has also made some changes behind the scenes to make the Hue Bridge work even better. Unfortunately, the exact details are not revealed.

The firmware 1971060010 has been rolled out since May 22. It may well take a few days before it is your turn and the software is updated. It is best to activate the automatic updates in the Hue Bridge settings so that you don’t have to worry about anything else.

Over the last few years, I've become a real expert when it comes to Hue & HomeKit. I now have over 50 lamps and numerous switches in use. I'm happy to share my experiences with you in my little blog.

  1. Nice to hear that the security has been improved, but what about the long awaited multiple bridge support?
And then I mean being able to have multiple bridges connected to one account, so Google home will recognise all light bulbs.

Shall it take another decade? 😉
