It’s been a few years since Philips Hue improved the GU10 spotlights. Back then, they became more compact, displayed better colours and were also slightly brighter. Currently, Philips Hue spots with a GU10 base deliver a maximum brightness of 350 lumens at 4,000 Kelvin. One small exception is the Hue White GU10 spotlight, which delivers an impressive 400 lumens at 2,700 Kelvin.
Last autumn, Philips Hue launched MR16 light sources on the market for the first time. The spots have a particularly small GU5.3 base. However, this is not the actual special feature. Much more important is the power supply, which is not via a conventional 230-volt connection. Instead, a 12-volt transformer is connected upstream.
In September, Philips Hue will launch some new products, besides the completely new security system and the second generation of the Philips Hue Festavia string lights, there will also be new spots. With them, Philips Hue will close a gap in its own product range, because until now, spots were only available with GU10 sockets.
