This afternoon, Philips Hue released another update in the App Store: version 5.13.0 of the official app is now available for download. And once again, a lot has changed – even more than can be read in the update description in the App Store.
For example, the latest version of the app makes it much easier to edit and then save an existing scene. This now works directly in the colour picking screen.
As you can see in the screenshots below, there is now a “Save” button in this view. If you tap on it, you can either update the existing scene or create a new scene – and of course also specify an own name for it. A really nice and practical new feature, in my opinion.
Natural light and new functions for classic Hue Tap switches
If you still have one of the classic Hue Tap light switches in use, you can look forward to new functions. “You now have access to time-controlled light, scene cycle mode, the “Natural Light” scene, switching lights on and off and much more”, the description says.
Can’t remember exactly what a Hue Tap looks like? I’ll be happy to help you with that, of course. Incidentally, the Hue Tap contains almost the same module as the Friends of Hue switches, although these have not yet been equipped with the new functions (as far as I can see). I think these will follow next.
With version 5.13.0 of the Philips Hue app, you can find even more energy-saving scenes via the search in the Hue light scenes gallery. Simply enter the search term “energy-saving”. If you are using a different language, you may need to adjust the name slightly.
