iConnectHue: Create magic scenes with AI

Version 4.17 available now

If you use an iPhone or iPad, the paid application iConnectHue (App Store link) is particularly useful for configuring switches and other accessory products. The industrious developer Stefan Göhler and his team constantly deliver new updates and functions. Since today, version 4.17 of the universal app for iPhone and iPad is available for download. I would like to introduce you to the new features.

Create AI-generated magic scenes

If you need a little variety when creating new scenes, you can now rely on artificial intelligence. Simply enter a description such as “holiday at the beach” or “party at the club” – and iConnectHue will deliver the appropriate colour combinations.

At the moment, this function is still called beta, and the final touches may still be missing. In addition, the function cannot be used without restrictions, as the developer explains:

This function is something we need to pay for on a regular basis. So it is mainly available for members, but non-members can try it 3 times. For the same reason you can currently use it 10 times a day as Basic member, 20 times a day as Pro member. We'll see how it works for us all and may make some changes accordingly.

Long press for real daylight

There is an improvement for an existing Pro feature. It was already possible to long press a light or group switch in the app to adjust the colour temperature based on day or night. Now it works even better:

With this update, we've improved it – it now calculates the actual color temperature based on the position of the sun at your location, and adds an automatic gradual change over the course of the next 2 hours, so your lights adjust to the sun's course!

The other new features at a glance

  • Easter Scene Set: Magical scenes to match Easter. Available to everyone free of charge until the end of April.
  • Improved time display: The activity times for accessories are now displayed in absolute rather than relative terms.
  • Wizard for dimmer switch: The Philips Hue dimmer switch of the first or second generation can now be set up even more easily with the help of the wizard.
