iConnectHue receives update: More possibilities with the wall switch module

Now available for iPhone and iPad

About a month ago, the Philips Hue Wall Switch Module was launched and now the corresponding update for iConnectHue (App Store-Link) is finally available. The app for iPhone and iPad is one of the best tools when it comes to configuring the Hue system. And of course it offers more possibilities around the new wall switch module than the regular Philips Hue app does.

Among other things, iConnectHue offers the possibility to activate five instead of only three scenes with the wall switch module. In addition, there is a division according to day and night as well as times and also a weekend mode.

I personally feel that one innovation is very exciting: when using a toggle switch, you can decide yourself whether the light should be switched off between the scenes or not. To activate the third scene, you have to flip the toggle switch five times (on-off-on-off-on-) or only three times (without “off”), depending on the setting selected. In both cases, the light is switched off again after a short pause with the next press of the switch.

The innovations around the Philips Hue Wall Switch Module and some other improvements, which also affect the Lutron Aurora and the Hue Smart Button, have to be unlocked with a “2021 Update”. This in-app purchase costs 2.99 euros once and includes further improvements that will be released this year.

Users who have taken out a subscription in iConnectHue or purchased the app after 1 March 2021 will receive the new features without further payment. All further information about the update and the app itself can be found in the App Store.

Installed behind light switches, the Philips Hue wall switch module lets you use existing switches with your Philips Hue smart lights. Your lights always stay powered on and reachable — and you can even use the switch to set multiple scenes on an individual light or in a Room or Zone.
